It is believed to bring prosperity in jobs and business and the birth of virtuous offspring. Planting a Tulsi (holy basil) plant in the house on the auspicious occasion of Saphala Ekadashi is considered particularly significant. Offering kheer (sweet rice pudding) with Tulsi leaves to Lord Vishnu is recommended on this day.

Saphala Ekadashi 2024 Puja Vidhi

According to religious traditions, on the day of Saphala Ekadashi, the worship of Lord Hari Vishnu and Mother Lakshmi is performed with due ceremony. The procedure for Saphala Ekadashi fasting is as follows:

  • Take a bath during the Brahma Muhurat (early morning) and offer Lord Vishnu incense, lamps, fruits, and Panchamrit.

  • Present coconut, betel nut, amla (Indian gooseberry), pomegranate, and cloves to Lord Shrihari.

  • Lord Vishnu is highly fond of Tulsi, so make sure to offer Tulsi leaves.

  • Perform the puja and aarti of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi.

  • Offer sweetmeats along with Panchamrit to Lord Vishnu.

  • During the night of Ekadashi, engage in a vigil and sing hymns praising Lord Vishnu.

  • On Dwadashi (the next day), arrange a meal for a needy person and offer charity.

Dos and Don'ts for Saphala Ekadashi 2024

  • Worship Lord Vishnu on the day of Saphala Ekadashi.

  • Offer yellow clothes, flowers, and sweets to Lord Shrihari Vishnu.

  • While chanting the mantra "Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya," we also worship Mother Lakshmi on this day.

  • Avoid eating rice on Ekadashi.

  • Consume Vegetarian Food on Ekadashi.

  • Do not pluck Tulsi leaves or touch the Tulsi plant on Ekadashi.

  • Avoid anger on Ekadashi.

  • Refrain from gossiping or dishonouring anyone on this day.

  • Do not consume non-vegetarian food on Ekadashi.

  • According to the scriptures, cutting hair and nails on Ekadashi is considered inauspicious.
