Who is the deity of Ketu?

Ketu

According to Vedic astrology, Rahu and Ketu are considered shadow planets. According to astronomy, two points are formed by the intersection of the orbits of the Sun and the Moon, one of them is known as the Rahu, and the other point is called Ketu. In any birth chart, these two planets live at a distance of 06 zodiac signs (180 degrees) from each other. Because these planets are sensitive points and not celestial bodies, and they have a profound effect on humans, so in Vedic astrology, they have been given the title of planets. Due to the movement of the Sun and Moon on their respective paths in space, the position of Rahu and Ketu also keeps changing simultaneously. In western astrology, Rahu and Ketu are known as the northern and southern lunar nodes.

Apart from giving its independent results, the planet Ketu also gives results according to the house in which it is placed in the person’s horoscope and as it is in conjunction or aspects of the planets. Generally, the planet Ketu is known as the inauspicious and cruel planet in Vedic astrology. But Ketu does not always give bad results to the native. If Ketu is auspicious and placed in a strong position in the horoscope, it can also give auspicious results. According to Vedic astrology, Ketu is the karaka of spirituality, detachment, salvation, Ayurveda, esoteric subjects, and tantric knowledge.

According to astrology, the planet Ketu does not own any sign. But according to some ancient astrology texts and scriptures, Ketu is exalted in Sagittarius and debilitated in Gemini Horoscope. Ketu is considered exalted in the Scorpio sign and debilitated in the Taurus sign due to some differences. Ketu is the lord of Ashwini Nakshatra, Magha, and Mool Nakshatra. According to Hindu scriptures, the planet Ketu is considered to be the body of a demon named Swarabhanu. In contrast, its head part is called Rahu. In any horoscope, both Rahu and Ketu together form Kaal Sarp Dosh. And generally, it is observed that the effect of this dosha is painful. Ketu represents the element of fire, like the Sun and Mars.

Due to Ketu, a person can become spiritual, introverted, esoteric, and mysterious. Ketu is a planet of cruel and furious nature, so due to the influence of Ketu, the person will get angry very quickly. According to astrology, the planet Ketu does not have any sign of its own, so the sign in which it is situated also gives results according to the nature of the sign’s lord. If a person is affected by the planet Ketu on the first house, i.e., Lagna Bhava or Ascendant, Sun, and Moon, then such a person will be detached from worldly pleasures and turns towards spirituality soon.

The qualities and karaka of that planet, which Ketu is taking under its influence in the horoscope, also decrease. When Ketu is in an unfavorable position, it gives results like intense and sudden pain. But through some effective measures, its suffering can be reduced. Worshiping Lord Ganesha can prove beneficial for soothing the planet Ketu. According to Astrology, each planet is related to a certain deity/goddess. The energy or qualities of that planet are similar to that of that deity. Lord Ganesha is considered the lord of Ketu because Ketu only has a torso, not a head, and Shri Ganesha also had only a torso and not a head because his father, Lord Shiva, had beheaded him. Later he was given a gajamukh or elephant head. By worshiping Lord Ganesha regularly, the ill effects of the planet Ketu start to calm down. For calming Ketu, recitation of Shri Ganesh Chalisa, Shri Ganesh Atharvashirsha, and Sankatnashan Shri Ganesh Stotra can prove very beneficial. Chanting the mantras of Ganesh Ji also gives freedom from the ill effects of the planet Ketu.

In Hindu culture, Lord Ganesha is worshiped before initiating any Manglik or auspicious work. The beginning of the sign (Bhachakra) also starts from the first constellation of Ketu; hence Lord Ganesha is the deity of this planet. Ketu signifies the end of one phase of the life cycle and the beginning of another cycle. By worshiping Lord Ganesha, the troubles of the planet Ketu starts reducing.

About Dr Vinay Bajrangi

Can anyone change the Horoscope? No, not even its creator the Brahma. Then what is that the astrology can or how can astrologers help us. My 2 decades exposure with a PhD in Astrology make me say that Horoscope is a direct manifesto of our Past Life Karmas which have gone past, fixed therefore cannot be changed. But there is something known as Gochar (transit of all planets in constellation like earth, sun, moon keep moving) Dasha which give us a chance to mould the results of the fixed planetary positions, allotted to us in Horoscope. That is possible through the Karmas of our present life (which are in our hand with manoeuvrability with a free will) and that where I preach that Karma correction with right guidance and at right time is the best way to extract best results with the help astrology. It is much better to control & play with your own free will than to desperately depend on mindless rituals later where you only pray to God help you with these rituals.
